Who We Are
BSEB-Birth Support, Education & Beyond (BSEB) is a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening families during the most pivotal window of life—pregnancy through the first year postpartum. Our work centers on strength-based, trauma-informed, and client-driven care for families navigating complex challenges such as trauma histories, maternal mental health needs, systemic barriers, and limited support networks.

What makes BSEB unique is our Perinatal Support Specialist (PSS) model, where a single, highly trained provider delivers continuous, relationship-based support across pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early parenting. Rather than fragmented services, families receive individualized education, advocacy, and care coordination from a trusted professional who understands their full story.

Through our home-visiting program, we provide doula support, childbirth and parenting education, lactation guidance, postpartum recovery support, maternal mental health screening, and assistance navigating healthcare and community systems.
BSEB’s mission is to build secure parent-child connections, reduce maternal toxic stress, and ensure families have the resources and support needed to thrive—laying the foundation for healthier generations.
Get to Know Us
Birth Support, Education & Beyond began in 2014 as a Connecticut-based program providing compassionate, personalized support to vulnerable young adults navigating pregnancy and early parenting. As the need for trauma-informed, relationship-based perinatal care grew, so did our vision for expanding access.
To ensure families facing adversity could receive no out-of-pocket cost support, Birth Support, Education & Beyond transitioned in 2023 into BSEB-Birth Support, Education & Beyond, Inc., a nonprofit organization.
Our mission remains rooted in strengthening families, reducing maternal stress, and ensuring every parent has the support needed to raise a healthy child.

Our Mission
To build secure parent–child connections from inception—strengthening families through pregnancy, birth, and early parenting while reducing maternal toxic stress, preventing newborn exposure to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and interrupting generational cycles of harm.
Our Vision
A community where strong, nurturing parent–child attachment is the norm; where maternal wellbeing is protected; and where every family—regardless of race, gender, citizenship, or circumstance—has equitable access to the essentials needed to parent safely and confidently.
Our Values
Health equity.
Racial justice.
Advocacy and systems change.
Education and empowerment.
Individualized, relationship-based support.
We believe
all persons deserve respect with the ability to access opportunity equally
We believe compassionate care begins with listening. BSEB is committed to learning from the diverse experiences, cultures, and perspectives of the families we serve so we can provide equitable, respectful support to people of all identities, backgrounds, and life circumstances.
